A Portal Between Seasons: The Beauty of the In-Between

There’s a moment—after the adventure but before the next chapter begins—that feels suspended in air.

A sacred pause.

A breath between becoming.

I recently traveled—first to Boston in May, then just last week,

to New Jersey & New York City—and felt the old parts of me stir as I walked familiar streets. I visited friends, revisited versions of myself, and stood before memorials that stopped time. It reminded me: healing doesn’t always come from stillness. Sometimes it comes from movement. From returning. From remembering.

But now I’m back.

And the energy is… different.

Late July carries a particular kind of magic. The sun is still high, yet the edges of the season begin to soften. Cicadas sing louder. Shadows stretch longer. We haven’t yet arrived in autumn, but summer’s height has passed. It’s the in-between. A portal space.

This is a powerful time to pause and ask:

• What do I need to integrate?

• What have I outgrown?

• What can I soften into?

At the salon, I’m finding that many of you are feeling this too. You come in with sun-kissed strands, travel stories, and a quiet desire to reset. To ground. To clear what’s no longer needed before stepping into what’s next.

So here’s a ritual for this threshold:

• Light a white candle dressed with clove or your favorite essential oil for clarity and flow.

• Hold a rose quartz or angel quartz to your heart.

• Take three deep breaths and ask yourself:

What do I need to carry forward?

And what can I lovingly leave behind?

You’re not late. You’re not early.

You’re right on time.
