The Energetics of Summer Beauty

Here in Florida, summer arrives like a full-body experience. The sun is strong, the humidity thick, and everything feels a little more alive—and a little more intense. This season holds the energy of fire: expansion, vitality, brightness. But like any element, it needs to be balanced.
In my work as a holistic stylist and energy healer, I see how the outer world affects our inner world—and our hair, skin, and nervous system often reflect what we’re not saying out loud.
☀️ Summer Beauty Starts from Within
First and foremost: hydration. Not just with water (though, yes—please drink more water than you think you need), but with foods that are high in water content like cucumbers, watermelon, and leafy greens. Herbal teas like hibiscus or mint served cold are also beautiful allies for this season.
When your body is hydrated, your skin glows and your hair retains more strength and elasticity. Dehydration shows up in the dullness of your strands, a dry, itchy scalp, or brittle ends. It’s not just cosmetic—your body is asking for support.
🌞 Protecting Your Crown
Your hair is your energetic antenna—it holds memory, energy, and carries the story of your health and spirit. In the summer sun, it’s especially important to protect it:
• UV Protection for Hair: Just like your skin, UV rays can damage your hair. Look for a leave-in spray with UV protection or natural oils like raspberry seed oil, which has some natural SPF properties. Bassu oil & Trinity protien creme combo is my favorite for this season as it has UV protection and moisture.
• Cold Rinses: After washing, rinse your hair and scalp with cold water. It seals the cuticle, adds shine, and is energetically cooling—helping soothe any inflammation or heat stored in the scalp.
• Sunscreen Rituals: A quality, clean SPF is non-negotiable. Think of it as a daily act of devotion to your skin. Apply with intention, like you’re blessing your face, neck, chest, and shoulders with protection from the elements.
🌊 Rituals to Cool the Fire
This is the season to embrace water in all its forms. When the fire gets too hot, we turn to the water to bring us back into balance.
• Ocean Dips: Saltwater is naturally cleansing and grounding. A swim in the ocean is like a reset for your nervous system. Let it clear your energy field, rinse your scalp, and awaken your senses.
• Cold Plunges or Ice Baths: Even a quick cold shower or a bucket of ice water for your feet can be transformative. These cooling rituals help regulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and support your body’s resilience.
• Energetic Cooling: Keep a bowl of rosewater mist in the fridge and use it as a midday refresh. You can also keep your favorite crystal (like selenite or moonstone) chilled and hold it over your heart or pulse points when you feel overheated or overwhelmed.

In This Season of Light, Don’t Forget to Slow Down
Summer encourages us to go, do, and be seen. But remember: rest is productive, too. Your beauty doesn’t come from keeping up—it radiates from staying in alignment.
Stay hydrated, stay cool, and tend to your crown with love. Your body, your hair, and your energy will thank you.
xx,
Susan
Love to you and yours
